Live Oak — A spat between a Tallahassee woman and her boyfriend led to her ultimate arrest for disorderly intoxication and child neglect.
According to Suwannee County Sheriff’s reports, while on assignment at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, SCSO Deputy Wayne Kelly observed Sarah Jane Baskins, 31, Tallahassee pulling a trailer behind her vehicle with a tied dog walking behind the trailer.
When Kelly stopped the vehicle and made contact with Baskins, she immediately became belligerent and began yelling and cursing, according to reports. While speaking with Baskins, Kelly observed a marijuana pipe in plain view on the vehicle seat. When Kelly retrieved the pipe, Baskins placed her hand in his face and began screaming at him, reports show.
Authorities say Baskins was detained and placed under arrest. Kelly then learned that Baskins had packed her two children into the car beneath clothes, coolers and other items and was attempting to leave the premises because she had become angry at her boyfriend.
Reports show that Baskins admitted she was intoxicated. In addition to being charged with disorderly intoxication and child neglect, Baskins was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence.
